چکیده

Bulgular: Toplam 162 hasta (324 taraf) incelendi. Büllöz konka ve septum deviasyon insidanslar› s›ras›yla %42.6 ve 46.9 idi. Nazal septum deviasyonuyla büllöz konkan›n bulunmas› aras›nda istatistiksel aç›dan anlaml› bir iliflki yoktu (p=0.06). Hastalar›n toplam %45.1’inde maksiller rinosinüzit kan›t› vard›. Di¤er sinüslerin tutulumu da saptanm›flt›. Örne¤in 28 hastada (%17.3) frontal, 48’inde (%29.6) etmoid ve 26’s›nda (%16) maksiller sinüs tutulmufltu.

There Is No Structural Relationship between Nasal Septal Deviation, Concha Bullosa, and Paranasal Sinus Fungus Balls

This study aims to determine the relationship between nasal septal deviation, concha bullosa, and chronic rhinosinusitis by using a definitive pathological and simplified model. Fifty-two consecutive sinus computed tomography scans were performed on patients who received endoscopic sinus surgery and whose final diagnosis was paranasal sinus fungus balls. The incidences of nasal septal deviation...

Septal deviation is associated with maxillary sinus fungus ball in male patients.

Fungus is one of the causes of chronic rhinosinusitis. If the fungus occupies the sinus but does not invade the sinonasal mucosa, this is called sinus fungus ball. Any association between anatomical variations and fungus ball remains unclear. Sinus fungus ball is defined as non-invasive chronic fungal rhinosinusitis occurring in immunocompetent patients, and the maxillary sinus is the most comm...

Correlation of computed tomography and nasal endoscopic findings in chronic rhinosinusitis.

This is a cross sectional study of 40 patients diagnosed with chronic rhinosinusitis using the Lanza Kennedy diagnostic criteria based on nasal endoscopy (NE), and on computer tomography (CT) of the paranasal sinuses. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the effectiveness and limitations of CT, and NE in the assessment of chronic rhinosinusitis. This study shows that CT was superior in de...

The incidence of concha bullosa and its relationship to nasal septal deviation and paranasal sinus disease.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The incidence of middle turbinate pneumatization, or concha bullosa, has been well described in the literature. However, to our knowledge, no study has evaluated concha bullosa in relation to nasal septal deviation. We sought to analyze the incidence of concha bullosa and any correlation with nasal septal deviation and paranasal sinus disease. METHODS Three neuroradiolo...

The Prevalence of Concha Bullosa and Nasal Septal Deviation and Their Relationship to Maxillary Sinusitis by Volumetric Tomography

The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of concha bullosa and nasal septal deviation and their potential relationships to maxillary sinusitis. 883 CT scans taken at Creighton University School of Dentistry from 2005 to 2008 were retrospectively reviewed for the presence of concha bullosa, nasal septal deviation, and maxillary sinusitis. 67.5% of patients exhibited pneumatiza...
